Office cleaning is not exactly high on the list of most employee’s favorite things to do.  However, if you are not financially able to hire a professional cleaning service, then you may very well have to relegate the duties to your current staff.  With that in mind, we have offered a few tips in an effort to help make the job a little less stressful.

The first and foremost item to consider when performing your own office cleaning is the products you will need to get the job done and done right.  This will include, in most cases, buckets, mops, sponges, cloths, rags, and cleaning solutions.  There may be other items that will be needed as pertaining to your cleaning needs, but these will give you a good start.

Once you have all your supplies gathered, then it will be time to get down to the task at hand.  There are specific areas of most offices that are a given that they need to be cleaned, and other areas that are seldom thought of to be cleaned.

One common task involves the dusting of all the hard surfaces of the office with a microfiber cloth.  This is your best choice because it will not scratch or damage the surface while cleaning it, and the fibers of the cloth are designed to capture and trap dust.  You will then need to make sure all the electronics are given a good going over.

It is best to dust and clean your electronics without them powered up.  You will get a better result this way, and less chance of any static building up.  It is worth noting here that you should not use glass cleaner to clean electronic screens.  Over the course of time they will stripe your screens of their anti-glare coatings.

Lastly, make sure to clean vents, window sills and ceiling fans as dust accumulates in these places quite quickly.

Next, you will need to vacuum if you have any fabric type of flooring, or if your flooring is hardwood, then you will need to use a wet mop with a solution specifically for wood.  Make sure to then empty and dispose of any trash in the trash cans, followed by straightening any furniture that got moved during the floor cleaning.

Stand back, take a look around, and make sure that the room looks neat and tidy.  Once that is done, make sure to place the remaining cleaning supplies in their proper storage area.  That’s it, your office is nice, clean, and tidy for the next business day.
